Spartan Chassis receives ILAV orders from BAE

ABR Staff Writer Published 23 December 2011

Spartan Chassis, a unit of Spartan Motors has received a subcontract from defense contractor BAE Systems to support the production of the International Light Armored Vehicles (ILAV).

Under the multi-million dollar ILAV program, the Michigan-based custom chassis manufacturer will produce ten ILAVs in two different configurations and supply its spares.

Spartan Motors cooTom Gorman said this opportunity which is smaller in volume with greater product variation is in direct alignment with our strategic and operational strengths of leveraging our expertise, speed and agility to produce reliable vehicle solutions.

The produced mine protected vehicles will be provided to the US Government under the Foreign Military Sales contract with BAE Systems.

The production is scheduled for completing in the first quarter of 2012 and vehicles will be delivered to Iraq in the second quarter of 2012.

The ILAV features a 4x4 v-shaped hull and has five alternates that include the International Light Armored Vehicle (base vehicle), Interrogator Arm, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Joint Surrogate Vehicle and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Training.

Spartan is also continuing its ongoing support of MRAP prime contractors and the US Government by providing spare/replacement parts for many of the vehicles built at Spartan during the MRAP program.
